HISTORY

In the mid seventies, Hercules Incorporated of Wilmington, Delaware, established in Colombia a joint venture by the name of Hercules Andina S.A. This company, incorporated under the protective laws of the recently formed Andean Pact, had limitations as to the foreign ownership participation, company activity it was allowed to perform, and restrictions for any remittance of profits.

After three years of limited operations, Hercules acquired a new company, Inversiones Agropecuarias New Jersey, which was a company that was established prior to the Andean Pact without any limitations as Hercules Andina had. The new company changed its name to Quimica Hercules de Colombia and Hercules Andina was shut down.

Quimica Hercules de Colombia operated for 20 years with the following mayor activities:

1 - Direct or indent sales in Colombia of Hercules products, and other from third party companies.

2 - Local distribution of Hercules products.

3 - Regional Hercules office for Andean countries, Central America and Caribbean.

4 - Toll manufacture of Rosin Esters and flavors for local companies.

In the early/mid nineties, Hercules Incorporated began a restructuring process where its foreign subsidiaries where downsized and other shutdown if they did not have its own manufacturing facilities. Quimica Hercules de Colombia fell into this category and closed its operation on July 1997.

One month later, Quimerco S.A. started its operation with the same business, product line, customers and market as Quimica Hercules de Colombia had.

Today Quimerco represents eleven leading foreign companies and stocks and distributes food ingredients, chemical raw materials and plastics for the adhesive, paint, construction, personal care, pharmaceutical, ink, food, plastic and rubber industry. Its activity is only in Colombia.
